Activity #3: What Should Your Cloud Say?

In the last post, everyone talked about how the art in the stairwell will make the campus better used--we'll take the stairs instead of the elevator. Also, it will create more fun and expose students to art and images. The fun, the beauty, the use of the elevator, the increased health, that's all part of making the stairwell more sustainable.

But what would you like your cloud to say? What will inspire, stop, make someone think...whatever as they walk up the stairs? You could put a a word, a phrase, a quote...what are you thinking of putting on your cloud?

  1. I want my cloud to say "We all make choices in life, but in the end our choices make us". I feel that this quote can inspire people to make better decisions in their lives.

  4. I would like to put a "sun" if possible or a white cloud mixing with a dark cloud, with a message reading "Do not give in to the darkness of the past, we are the light of the future".
I think something like this could be an inspiration to keep going in life and not to stop or push away our current goals and aspirations in life.

  8. What would I like my cloud to say is very simple. If we go a little bit back to the purpose behind this project, we could infer that the clouds should portray positive messages to the students. The project itself is made to inspire students to take the stairs, so the best way to encourage them is to put things that really impact and motivate them. Moreover, the clouds should say short phrases that really make students think and analyze them. For example, phrases which resemble the importance of taking the stairwell as a way to exercise. Phrases connected one another that make students to get involved in the reading pattern and motivate them to reach the top floor.

I have in mind a variety of phrases that I could possibly put in the clouds, some created by me and others created by famous writers. For instance, one of the phrases that I have in mind related to health is- fight against obesity-. Another one associated with emotion is –you can do it, don’t be late for your class using the elevator-. In addition to phrases created by me, there are others really impacting and encouraging elaborated by famous writers. For example, one very deep created by Helen Keller that says "Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." Another really encouraging created by Georges Reeves that says, "You can if you think you can."

To conclude, no matter if you are a good writer or not, what really matters is your good intention to make this project go forward and achieve its main purpose. The only thing you need to consider while elaborating the comments to be placed on your clouds is to putting positive and constructive ideas, which motivate students to use the stairs.

  11. I would like my cloud to say something inspiring like “Every problem has a gift for you in its hands". I think this can move people to think not every problem has to be seen as bad luck, but as something that can produce something else and that else could be good or even great. We must believe that everything happens for a reason.

  35. I want my cloud to have a big subwoofer with musical notes coming out of it. Not because music is in the clouds, but it would be unique and no one would have that idea of doing it. It would be a great concept to make people think of reasons why someone put music in the cloud or what music can represent. To me music is freedom. Music is free to roam the earth and skies. Clouds can make music as well. For example thunder clouds make loud thumping noises while rain clouds make dripping noises that resemble drums or drumming. Thats what I would put in the clouds.

I want my clouds to be in the shape of a trinity of some sort in a way to symbolize unity. To symbolize the bond for family and as well as the unity of differences. This is what I want to get out of my cloud, but mainly I want other people to get a sense of purpose from this cloud, that it will touch them in one way or another. I want it to give different meanings and significances to different people.

  39. I want my cloud to say "'CLOUD','IMAGINATION'". I believe that these two words are related. When you need any inspiration these are words that came to your mind. Some people are afraid of the sky but almost everyone has dreamed with the clouds.

  40. Sometimes, when I would walk up the stairs and would see the first stairwell project I felt if I would stop to gaze at it and someone would open the door they would look at me weird.

I think an inviting quote would be elegant.

''Come close, look I swear I won't bite.''

  42. I want my cloud to say something inspiring. “Start at the beginning” I already mentioned something else in the other activity but I think that this is more inspiring. In order to finish something we have to begging it. It’s like school, its long and hard work but there is no short cut we start at the bottom and work our way up just like the stairs.

  43. I already put some messages inside the clouds I sent to Michelle. I wanted to write something stimulating and inspiring for people. Something that if you're depressed and you read it,it will give you strength to keep going. These are the quotes I wrote in my clouds... "The purpose of life is a life of purpose"... "Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can fly"... "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"...and... "It is hard to fail but it is worse never have tried to succeed"... Hope you like them...
